The Government subsidizes most public medical expenses, but certain children’s cardiology treatments such as interventional heart catheters, pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillator, and heart valves require the patient’s self-financing. The cost is oftentimes high, creating a heavy financial burden on heart children families.
CHF implemented the ‘Medical Financial Assistance Program’ to provide financial support to heart children families in need, so that they can receive appropriate treatment. Since 1995, the foundation has provided more than 1,000 heart children with $20 million in medical financial assistance, supplementing the public health system.
