Since the establishment of the programme in September 2020, the Foundation has been committed to providing a relaxing and safe environment for members. As the delivery of the programme has been challenged by the COVID-19 epidemic, the Foundation has made appropriate adjustments to its service. For example, we have increased the number of sessions to follow up on families in need, provided additional tools for treatment and enhanced the sanitisation of treatment rooms for children and parents to continue with proper support services in a safe and clean environment.

Notably, the feedback from the participation of children and parents is generally favourable. The emotional regulation and anxiety coping skills of participating children have improved significantly. Additionally, participating parents’ stress, anxiety, and depression levels have improved considerably compared to those before the programme. All parents interviewed stated they would recommend and refer the programme to other families in need.

In addition to individual therapies and counselling, the programme also offers parent-child workshops to enable families to learn essential skills in supporting and caring for their children with the guidance of therapists and counsellors. Consequently, it strengthens their parenting skills and allows them to meet other parents in similar situations to enhance their support network. As the Foundation partners with hospitals to receive referral, giving children and parents the opportunity to participate in the programme, therefore providing emotional and psychological support as early as possible.
